How to Belong is Manville’s most ambitious set of recordings to date, showcasing a wide spectrum of production and songwriting, from the full band arrangement on Stalemate, to the voice-note phone recording of Arbitrary. After his marriage of 10 years ended he found himself looking after 2 children alone and between places to live, as he puts it; "In a sort of purgatory between an old life and a new one". It's a collection of songs that relate to Manville's personal experience of 'Home' and details a turbulent period of his life. The songs shift from poignant and resolute, to introspective and sombre yet all retain his unique character.
